This large gent is part of my Malifaux Guild faction. I painted this figure plus one other in preparation for my first Malifaux tournament just over a week ago. I got the figure finished on time, but I had to go back to it subsequently to tidy up a couple of areas that I wasnt happy with. A couple of other parts of the paint job could maybe do with some more work, but at this stage I will likely leave the figure as is.
The blacks came out funny in the photo: the highlights on the black are not as harsh as that. Something funny happened with the contrast 
The design of the figure is a bit mad, somewhere between a hangman, executioner and some sort of S&M cyborg. Rather than simply paint the figure in black all over (a rubberised or high gloss PVC look could be fun) I decided to try painting leopardskin trousers on the figure. I thought that it might be funny and that it would play on the S&M look a bit.
I consulted the notes that I made while painting Dr.Leghorn and attempted to replicate that. Largely it worked, although there are a couple of spots in particular that I am not happy with. A learning experience.

Also of note is that the figure is quite large (thats a 40mm diameter base). Unfortunately due to my poor choice of miniatures for comparison purposes, the Executioner doesnt look that big in the photo above at all. Oh well.
This guy has turned out to be quite a fun figure to field in Malifaux games. He also serves a couple of purposes in my current Lady Justice crew line up whch has led to a more satisfying experience when playing games featuring Lady J: he has helped to make smaller games fall into place. I havent got this much fun out of a 250lb semi-naked, masked man in leopardskin trousers for months.

That is one seriously cool miniature! I’ve seen him before and thought he’d make a great boss figure.
Some bigger pics would have been nice to see all the details, like the hands in his belt for example. Makes me wonder if it his own hands he keeps “handy” there, and can he change back to them when he wants to take a shower or pick his nose..?
You made well on the paintjob, and those leopard trousers look good on him! =)

I hadnt noticed it until now, but the miniature does have a very strong House of the Dead boss feel. Good catch.
Regarding bigger photos, I have decided that larger pics of my miniatures only show up errors that are almost invisible in real life, which is demoralising for me and looks slapdash to the viewer, so I have decided to use smaller images. As shown the photos are about 50% bigger than the actual figure which should be loads I reckon.
I think that the hands on the Executioners belt are his own, although it never occurred to me until you pointed it out! As for how he wipes his arse and the like, I imagine that he has a team of guys to attend to his needs, like a sumo.

That is some top notch painting you’ve done there. The skin tones on the (rather expansive) belly are particularly good. I like the trousers; it’s a nice, and probably unique, touch.

I enjoyed painting the pasty, slightly unhealthy flesh tones and I think that it shows. The trousers are just a bit of fun on a quite funny looking figure.

Some sweet work here. As said above, the flesh tones are wonderful, and the model delightfully silly. Come to think of it, with a suitable paintjob he wouldn’t be a bad fit for your Mechanicus force either, or what do you think?

Thanks Mikko. Painting the flesh was a pretty painless process actually and it worked out well. I will likely use the same colours and technique the next time that I have to paint a large expanse of living white guy flesh.
The figure definitely fits in with the 40K universe. The backpack and cables are what make the figure work as a concept for me, shifting it from fantasy weird to techno-fantasy weird. I see the figure as an adherent to the Imperial Cult rather than the Cult of the Machine, but thats mainly just geeky nitpicking 🙂
I try to cross purpose my figures as much as possible and I could easily see the Executioner here as part of an Inquisitorial retinue. Many of the Malifaux figures are suitable as 40k Imperial citizens or non-battlefield types and I intend to use them as such as required.
