Rekall Rentokillaz (Veer-myn) vs Cork Road Browns (Z’zor) vs Mustard Prophets (Judwan). The Prophets won by landslide in the seventh and final round.
I got three games of Ultimate DreadBall played yesterday. The other coaches were COM, JOM and TM. As expected Ultimate is a bit more random and shenanigans filled than regular two player DB but it remained fun. Importantly it rattles along at a fair pace: absolutely crucial for a multi-player game.

OCP Patriots (Corporation) vs Cork Road Browns (Z’zor) vs Reavouler Ratmen (Veer-myn) vs Mustard Prophets (Judwan). The Patriots won this one.
The game “board” is worth mentioning. Its essentially a large mouse mat and it really is an excellent surface to play a game like this on, for many reasons. The colours are very vibrant and appealing too although some of that vibrancy is lost in these dodgy phone photos. I hope that Mantic have plans to release a standard DreadBall pitch made from this material. Its great. It also bodes well for the mats for use with Deadzone and Mars Attacks.
A set of acrylic tokens for Ultimate would be good. The cardboard tokens supplied are perfectly functional, but are a bit inferior to the rest of the componenets, in particular the acrylic tokens used in the regular game.

BP Oilers (Marauders) vs Coscutt-orx (Marauders) vs Mustard Propets (Judwan) vs Cork Road Browns (Z’zor). The Costcutt-orx won this one, heavily aided by Number 88.
We used starting teams in each of the three games but we also threw in an MVP each to see what would happen. The inclusion of Mee-Kel Judwan, Number 88, Ludwig and The Enforcer alongside starting teams meant that they dominated a bit too much. It was more fun playing the basic teams without them in this case.

The Enforcer (his Robocop-esque silver rear is visible) cleans Judwan gore from his gauntlets after a memorably lethal debut.
Ultimate wont replace regular DreadBall, but it really does work very well as a multi-player. It reminds me of the heavily tweaked homebrew house rules that we used to use for DungeonBowl about a decade ago. Thats a good thing 🙂
The session has certainly put me in the mood to get some of my Season 3 stuff painted.

What a crazy looking game board, glad it worked out though.
We have to get some games in with our heavily tweaked Blood Bowl rules again for a league day at some point in the future. Now that would make for a battle report.

The board is mental looking, but in a totally appropriate way for the subject matter I reckon. Speedball meets Oogie Boogie after having a few drinks at home in front of TRON: Legacy.
Those DungeonBowl days were great alright 🙂
