Xmas rides eternal.

A fuel pump with a hat?

Oooh, way better than that!
I considered keeping the wheels on this “Boneshaker Hot Rod” purple/lilac, but decided that they were a bit too distracting from the theme. Nice colour though. As was the lovely purple flake metallic bodywork.

The car every father dreads seeing arrive to collect his daughter.
Custom hot rods are about as Fury Road as it gets.

Fury Road “Elvis”
I probably put too much weatehring over the Babadook in the end, losing a bit too much of the lovely purple finish. That’s life in the wasteland I suppose, full of regret.

“Witness me bloodbag!”

It’s fun to see how you transform these cars for Gaslands!

Some of the Hot Wheels range is appropriate for Gaslands pretty much straight out of the packet, others require a bit of work. This one was pretty straightforward.
I am glad that you are enjoying the series davekay, as it has been fun to work on.

Nice! I think the end result does look pretty beaten up but like you said… welp, the wasteland I think this car is available in blister packs so you could always give yourself a do-over some time 🙂
These posts are definitely inspiring btw. I really really don’t need another side project, but I now find myself pawing through the Hot Wheels bins at Walmart. And not just for stocking stuffers…

I don’t think that a do-over is required and even if it was a bust, there are so many toy cars out there, ripe for postapocalyptification, that I would probably just try a different design.
As for new scales and side projects, toy cars have a huge draw for so many once-kids. And the ubiquitous availability of toy cars, once you start seeing them as hobby items, makes every shopping trip a new experience.
I have some other elements lined up that I think that you will like too…

I think I saw an open topped version of this skull hot rod yesterday (at the grocery store; you’re right about shopping trips)… I assume the Gaslands accessories kits include some drivers that might fit 🙂

You are correct about the open topped version. My buddy Bazpaz used one of those for Gaslands recently in fact, adding a rollcage and a driver (from the Northstar Implements of Carnage sprue) to it.

Really enjoying all of this Gaslands malarkey! Quite inspiring too since I’ve dug out a hot wheels 5 pack that I bought a couple of years ago.
I’m really impressed with your weathering technique since it certainly appears efficient and effective, may I be so bold as to ask what the recipe is?

I’m very happy to hear that the posts have got you looking at your toy car project again reductivetendency 🙂
It just so happens that I put together a guide to my approach when painting my Gaslands items here: https://sho3box.com/2019/10/18/painting-gaslands-cars/

There’s no such thing as too much weathering. I love this one!

I do like particularly this one too. I’m just a tiny bit sad that the lovely metallic flake finish was covered up. But that’s just the way it had to be.

Great weathering as always – been really enjoying this series!

It’s a slightly silly, but enjoyable project Mark. I’m glad that you are enjoying it 🙂
