Gaslands Slay Ride Advent(ure) #19: Tree

It’s beginning to look a lot like post-apoChristmas.

What’s under the tree?

Oh…there was literally more tree under the tree.

Supplied with large brown strap to tie tree to vehicle, for simulating a journey filled with fighting family members.

I had zero interest in attaching a Xmas tree to one of my post-apocalyptic murder-mobiles, so the Xmas tree got the abandoned theme park treatment seen in most of the non-vehicle elements of this project. Like the rest of them, the tree was based on some ripped up cork tile, textured here and there to give the impression that the tree has been sitting neglected for some time.

And what says post-apoChristmas more than a toppled, bleached, plastic approximation of a growing thing, now unavailable due to deforestation?

Enjoy your conspicuous consumption Gaslandiciples!

See you for #20 tomorrow!

The Death of Innocence, maximised for tabletop toy soldier entertainment. This sort of fiddling, is why we as a species deserve to burn. WITNESS!

  1. Looks like some kind of giant mutant evil post-apoc seashell in the first pic! Which is pretty interesting, I have to say

    • Yeah, the paint job is rapid and simple and combined with the pretty basic photography it is s bit indistinct. Part of that is the price paid by doing a load of these pieces fast, and part is that this approach really is good enough at that level for what I want. I don’t feel a need to over complicate the issue.

It makes a visual sense on the tabletop anyway 🙂

As always Suber, thanks for the feedback!

  2. In my mind, I automatically populated the car with the tree on top with the Griswolds from the Vacation films 😄

I have a clever idea for another Gaslands car… I’ll have to hunt the bins at Walmart for a suitable toy and tackle it after Xmas. This IS addictive 😮

    • Griswold Gaslands could be funny. Not really my jam, but if that turns someone’s crank, then I’m not going to stand in their way.

Buying and converting toy cars is an entire sub hobby, available in virtually any retail outlet: impulse control required. Although it sounds like you have a plan, so that’s different. I’m looking forward to seeing it.
