Decent Exposure

Sometimes good things happen.  One of todays good things is finding out that my corner of internet toy soldier-dom got a small but complimentary mention in an article in Miniature Wargames Magazine #381.

I havent got my hard copy of the magazine yet (although I have my people working on that) but this is what the article said concerning sho3box:

• sho3box.wordpress.com
As I get older, I have realised that I hate talented
people. Cheetor (by name, though not I hope by
nature) regularly turns out absolutely beautiful
figures and game boards, using a wide variety
of figures from different manufacturers and not
just old Citadel lead. It should also be noted
that while Cheetor uses the background from
Rogue Trader 40,000, most of his games seem
to use Pulp Alley rules, proving that one does
not necessarily hahave to be Oldhammer to play
Oldhammer.

Isnt that nice?  Exactly the sort of thing that one is glad to hear on a cold January Monday.

Edit: I have put a link to the full article above.  With the article now included I heartily encourage anyone who enjoys any of the items on this blog to check out the others listed in the piece.  Every one is well worth your time.

  1. Well deserved imo mate, your stuff is of a standard that most of us can only dream of.

    • Thank you Frank, very kind. I dont paint to a competition level standard, but I am pleased with how the balance of quality versus quantity has worked out over the last few years. I guess I would call it high tabletop standard.

Im am getting semi-regular gaming in too, which is great. The hobby side of things has come together well overall in the last three years or so.

  2. Yeah, couldn’t agree more with the above comment.

Your painting is so good it depresses me :p

    Keep up the good work!

    • Ha, it might be depressing if it wasn’t so lovely to look at. A post on this blog is definitely something inspiring to check out when I’m stuck at work away from my little men and my paints… or when I’m at home walking in circles with a baby and likewise can’t sit down for some painting time.

      • Very kind of you to say No Such Agency. I try to do my own thing and work on the projects that inspire me, so it is gratifying when other people enjoy them too.

    • Im sorry to hear that my painting brings you down head head, but considering the therapeutic effect the process has on me I am going to continue to make you suffer for the foreseeable future Im afraid 😉

Thank you for the kind feedback.

    • And well done to you Asslessman, your blog is a regular wellspring of imagination, positivity and productivity.

I am very pleased with the new header (there are twelve variants). After having a placeholder up there for years I figured that it was time to get it sorted once and for all. Its amazing the leverage that the offer of an Ambull can have on a hobby associate who makes a living from graphic design 🙂 A win-win situation.

  5. Congratulations, Cheetor. Best way to be hated. You do have quite inspirational work. I have upped my game because of what you’ve said. (And you sold me Pulp Alley and Ramshackle Miniatures. You should ask Curtis and Dave for commissions.)

    • Thanks for your kind feedback David.

Based on your blog output and the conversations that we have had I think that you and I are looking for similar things from our hobby. Its is great to be able to share and encourage that from the other side of the planet.
